45 per­cent of Amer­i­cans do not own a mo­bile phone with scan­ning ca­pa­bil­i­ties for re­tail pur­chases, or for use as an ad­mis­sion ticket.

40 per­cent of those own­ing scan-ready phones have never used that tech­nol­ogy.

41 per­cent are “com­fort­able” with a mo­bile scan to use as an air­line or trans­porta­tion ticket.

39 per­cent are com­fort­able with a mo­bile app that al­lows them to make re­tail pur­chases.

24 per­cent are com­fort­able with a mo­bile app that stores their credit card in­for­ma­tion.

16 per­cent say this tech­nol­ogy will re­place cash trans­ac­tions in the next three years; 30 per­cent say it will “never” re­place cash.

5 per­cent have used their phone for ad­mis­sion to a movie or to buy an air­line ticket.
