Mets’ Wright likely will be sidelined another week

VIERA, FLA. | New York Mets third baseman David Wright is expected to miss at least another week because of soreness in his left rib cage.

Mets manager Terry Collins said Saturday that Wright wasn’t ready to play yet. Wright has not played in a spring training game this year. The All-star third baseman has taken groundballs, but has not thrown or swung a bat.

St. Louis Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter will miss his next scheduled spring training start because of stiffness in his neck. Carpenter, who will turn 37 next month, left Friday’s practice session with a sore neck.
