Train hits tow truck in midst of removing car
A CSX freight train struck a tow truck that was in the midst of pulling a car off the railroad tracks Saturday night in Riverdale Park, authorities said.
Riverdale Park police said they called a tow truck to get a stuck Lexus off the tracks. But before the car could be removed, both vehicles were hit by the train at about 8:45 p.m. Nobody was in either vehicle at the time.
It was not clear whether the train’s operator had been warned about the cars on the track. Police said the driver of the Lexus was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence.
