MTV has renewed “Jersey Shore” for another season, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Despite sagging ratings during its fifth season, the cable network announced Monday that it has given the reality series another crack at causing mayhem at the Shore. Production will begin in Seaside Heights, N.J., this summer. According to the announcement, all the cast members will return for season six.

While the ratings had been steadily decreasing this season, MTV is comfortable with its standing as the No. 1 cable series for viewers ages 12 to 34 this year, and it’s still the No. 1 series on the network. The season averaged a 7.4 rating with that demographic and averaged 7.9 million total viewers per episode. That’s a slight increase over its fourth season, which was taped in Italy and averaged 7.6 million viewers.

The network likely is banking on viewer interest in how it will handle Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi’s pregnancy and engagement. Not to mention, she and fellow cast member Jenni “Jwoww” Farley are working on a spinoff. And DJ Pauly Delvecchio’s spinoff series, “The Pauly D Project,” will premiere March 29.
