Aftershocks from 2011 quake continue in rural areas
Virginia continues to experience aftershocks from last summer’s earthquake.
The U.S. Geological Survey said a magnitude 3.1 aftershock occurred at 11:21 p.m. Sunday eight miles south of Louisa and eight miles south-southwest of Mineral.
Mineral was the epicenter of the magnitude 5.8 earthquake that struck on Aug. 23, 2011. No damage has been reported. Dozens of aftershocks have occurred since the earthquake. Seismologists
