Brown Univer­sity pres­i­dent look­ing into Kelly protest

PROV­I­DENCE | Brown Univer­sity’s pres­i­dent says she is look­ing into the events that led to a rowdy protest that shut down a speech by New York City Po­lice Com­mis­sioner Ray Kelly.

Christina Pax­son says in a cam­puswide let­ter Wed­nes­day that she is form­ing a fac­ulty-stu­dent com­mit­tee to ex­am­ine the Oct. 29 in­ci­dent.

Mr. Kelly’s speech had to be can­celed when stu­dents and mem­bers of the broader com­mu­nity re­fused to let him speak. They were protest­ing his depart­ment’s “stop and frisk” pol­icy.

Ms. Pax­son pre­vi­ously has called the dis­rup­tion an af­front to the Ivy League univer­sity’s core val­ues.

She says the com­mit­tee will look at how the event was man­aged. She also says she will use the find­ings to help
