Woman struck by Metro train dies
A woman was struck by a train at the Silver Spring Metro station on Sunday afternoon and later died, transit officials said.
Metro spokeswoman Caroline Laurin said it appeared to be an accident but the circumstances of the incident were unclear.
The unidentified woman was rescued at about 2 p.m. and taken to a hospital, where she died.
The Silver Spring station was temporarily closed, and trains were singletracking on the Red Line between Silver Spring and Forest Glen for part of the afternoon.
