Sevilla, Real Betis move on to next round in Europa League

BARCELONA, SPAIN | Span­ish crosstown ri­vals Sevilla and Real Betis booked their spots in the Europa League’s round of 32 de­spite fail­ing to win on Thurs­day, while Tot­ten­ham locked up first place in its group with a 2-0 vic­tory at Nor­we­gian club Tromso.

Tot­ten­ham won Group I with its fifth vic­tory in as many games in Europe’s sec­ond-tier club com­pe­ti­tion af­ter sec­ond-half goals by Vlad Chiriches and Mousa Dem­bele.

Lyon edged Betis 1-0, but both teams ad­vanced af­ter Ri­jeka drew 0-0 with Guimaraes.

Sevilla also moved on from Group H even though it con­ceded a 90thminute equal­izer at home to Por­tuguese side Es­to­ril in a 1-1 draw.

Genk, AZ Alk­maar and PAOK also qual­i­fied for the knock­out rounds with one group game to go.
