Junk the Education Department

The Washington Times Daily - - EDITORIAL -

Improving education in a major way is a lot easier than you might think (“Advancing American education,” Web, Nov. 27): Simply abolish the Department of Education and return this responsibility to the states, where it belongs. Before Jimmy Carter federalized them, public schools did an excellent job of educating and turning out qualified and responsible citizens, and at a much more reasonable cost.
