Firefighter brawl: Two accused of blocking other crew

The Washington Times Daily - - METRO -

Two Prince George’s County firefighters have been indicted on charges that they assaulted a female firefighter from another station during a fight over which unit should go first inside a burning home.

Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Angela Alsobrooks said volunteer firefighters Jeffry Miller and Chris Kelly were indicted Tuesday on multiple charges including seconddegree assault and interfering with a firefighter in the performance of their duties.

Ms. Alsobrooks said a unit of career firefighters arrived first at the Hyattsville blaze last December, but Mr. Kelly, who wasn’t in full gear, blocked the door and prevented them from entering.

Ms. Alsobrooks said Mr. Kelly hit the career female firefighter, knocking her off the porch.

She tried entering again, but officials say Mr. Miller grabbed her and pulled her away.
