Trump meets with rapper who vows to replace him as president
President-elect Donald Trump met Tuesday with hip-hop star Kanye West.
“Just friends. Just friends,” Mr. Trump said as the two men emerged from an elevator at Trump Tower. “We’ve been friends for a long time.”
Mr. West said on Twitter later in the afternoon that he wanted to meet with Mr. Trump to discuss “multicultural issues” like “bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculums, and violence in Chicago.”
“I feel it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future President if we truly want change,” he tweeted.
In response to questions earlier, Mr. West had said he just wanted to take a picture. The world-famous musician has said he would have voted for Mr. Trump this year if he had voted.
Mr. West said at the MTV Video Music Awards last year that he’s decided to run for president in 2020.
“#2024,” he tweeted Tuesday.
