Trump names top adviser new ambassador to Israel
New York City bankruptcy attorney David Friedman, President-elect Donald Trump’s top adviser on Israel, will be nominated as the next U.S. ambassador to the country, the Trump transition team said Thursday.
The president-elect, in a statement, described Mr. Friedman as “a longtime friend and trusted adviser to me. His strong relationships in Israel will form the foundation of his diplomatic mission.”
Mr. Friedman immediately signaled a shift in American policy in his statement, in which he said he looks forward for strengthening bonds between the two countries and advancing the cause of peace “from the U.S. embassy in Israel’s eternal capital, Jerusalem.”
