MOVIE “The Sound of Music” / 7:00pm (7) Julie Andrews’ sweet voice fills the hills in this Academy Award-winning 1965 musical based on the true story of Austria’s Von Trapp family. Andrews plays Maria, the convent-trained governess of a wealthy Austrian’s (Christopher Plummer) children. The score features such songs as “Edelweiss” and “My Favorite Things.” Among those playing the youngsters are Angela Cartwright, Nicholas Hammond, Heather Menzies and the late Charmian Carr.
Son of Zorn / 8:30pm (5) Zorn (voice of Jason Sudeikis) deploys a clever way to play hooky from work in “A Tale of Two Zorns.” He wants to be available to buy a new video game the moment it goes on sale, so he puts a body double in his usual place. Once Edie and Linda (Cheryl Hines, Artemis Pebdani) realize what’s going on, the double gets abused by them in a way the real Zorn doesn’t. Johnny Pemberton and Tim Meadows also star. Family Guy / 9:00pm (5) Having a problem-solving call transferred to technical support in India isn’t unusual these days ... but traveling there to find the person behind a voice you fell in love with is. Such is the mission of Brian (voice of Seth MacFarlane) in “Road to India,” and he brings Stewie (also voiced by MacFarlane) along. Peter (yes, MacFarlane’s voice again) steals the show at a bingo night.
Shameless / 9:00pm (Showtime)
The extended Gallagher clan is painfully familiar with people dropping out of their lives, often through abandonment but sometimes through death — and the Season 7 finale finds them dealing with the loss of one of their own. The situation sparks mixed emotions, as indicated in the episode title, “Requiem for a Slut.” Elsewhere, Debbie, Carl and Liam (Emma Kinney, Ethan Cutkosky, Brenden Sims) get swept up in Frank’s (William H. Macy) latest scheme.
Julie Andrews stars in “The Sound of Music” Sunday on ABC.
