The Washington Times Daily - - METRO -

Prince George’s County Police say an officer fatally shot a driver who was pointing a gun at his passenger and another officer.

Police Chief Hank Stawinski said that officers responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle in Capitol Heights on Thursday found two people asleep in a car. When officers woke them, the passenger tried to flee and the driver pointed a handgun at the passenger and the officer on the passenger side.

That’s when an officer on the driver’s side fired, striking the driver, the chief said.

Officers performed CPR, but the driver died at a hospital. Police identified him as 19-year-old Terrence Thomas Jr., 19, of Capitol Heights.

Police said they recovered weapons.
