Taser offers body cameras to police agencies free for 1 year
Taser International, best known for making electroshock weapons, announced a new program to distribute free body-worn cameras to police officers across the country.
Based in Scottsdale, Arizona, Taser also announced Wednesday that it is changing its name to Axon. In addition to offering the equipment for free, the company will provide training and video storage services at no cost for up to a year.
If law enforcement agencies decide to keep the cameras, or damage them, they will have to pay full price.
