1 fired af­ter sex of­fender poses as staff, drives bus

D.C. Pub­lic Schools of­fi­cials say that a con­victed sex of­fender posed as an em­ployee and drove a school bus full of chil­dren for a week be­fore any­body caught on.

WJLA-TV re­ported that a hu­man re­sources staffer al­lowed the man to drive bus routes be­tween March 15 and March 21, trans­port­ing chil­dren from D.C. pub­lic and char­ter schools in the area.

A state­ment is­sued by the Of­fice of the State Su­per­in­ten­dent of Ed­u­ca­tion says that when of­fi­cials learned that the man didn’t have proper cre­den­tials, he was re­moved.

The man had been con­victed of at­tempted mis­de­meanor sex­ual as­sault.
