Georgetown to host 2019 NCAA Tournament regionals
Georgetown University will host the 2019 NCAA Division I men’s basketball East Regional Championship at the Verizon Center, the NCAA announced Tuesday.
The regional semifinals and finals will be held Friday, March 29, 2019, and Sunday, March 31, 2019, respectively.
The District has hosted the NCAA Tournament seven times since 1998. It will be the sixth time Georgetown has hosted at the Verizon Center. The Hoyas previously hosted the first and second rounds in 2002, 2008 and 2011 in addition to hosting the regional finals in 2006 and 2013.
The other regional semifinals and finals will be held in Kansas City, Missouri; Louisville, Kentucky; and Anaheim, California, from March 28-31, 2019. Hosting the second and third rounds from March 21-24, 2019 will be Columbus, Ohio; Jacksonville, Florida; Columbia, South Carolina; Salt Lake City, Utah; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Des Moines, Iowa; Seattle, Washington; and Hartford, Connecticut. The First Four will be held in Dayton, Ohio, on March 19 and 20, 2019. The 2019 Final Four will be held April 6 and 8 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
