Ball, Juanita (Nita) Brekke
Juanita (Nita) Brekke Ball (age 97) died peacefully Monday, April 17, 2017 at her home in Alexandria, VA. She was married to Lt. Col. Louis L. Ball (now deceased). Nita is survived by her 2 daughters and their spouses, Coni & Ernie Green of Franklin, IN; and Lynn & Tom Jones of Burke, VA; her 3 grandchildren Vicki Kindervater, Brekke Green and John Maltempo; and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Marj Wight of Kenmore, WA.
Nita was born in Montana and grew up in Nevada. As a military spouse, she lived in several locations and in 1955, she moved to her beloved Florida where she lived prior to moving to Virginia. She was a long time member of the Order of the Daughters of the King and the Episcopal Church Women. Her life was dedicated to Christ, to her family and to helping others. Nita was an artist, a pianist, a gardener, a generous volunteer and had an insatiable appetite for learning.
Nita’s beautiful smile, her red lipstick and genuine concern for others will be remembered by all who knew her.
She will be interred at All Saints Episcopal Church in Tarpon Springs, FL. Memorial gifts may be made to the Goodwin House Foundation, Alexandria, VA.
