Age 97

Juanita (Nita) Brekke Ball (age 97) died peace­fully Mon­day, April 17, 2017 at her home in Alexan­dria, VA. She was mar­ried to Lt. Col. Louis L. Ball (now de­ceased). Nita is sur­vived by her 2 daugh­ters and their spouses, Coni & Ernie Green of Franklin, IN; and Lynn & Tom Jones of Burke, VA; her 3 grand­chil­dren Vicki Kin­der­vater, Brekke Green and John Mal­tempo; and 8 great-grand­chil­dren. She is also sur­vived by her sis­ter Marj Wight of Ken­more, WA.

Nita was born in Mon­tana and grew up in Ne­vada. As a mil­i­tary spouse, she lived in sev­eral lo­ca­tions and in 1955, she moved to her beloved Florida where she lived prior to mov­ing to Vir­ginia. She was a long time mem­ber of the Or­der of the Daugh­ters of the King and the Epis­co­pal Church Women. Her life was ded­i­cated to Christ, to her fam­ily and to help­ing oth­ers. Nita was an artist, a pian­ist, a gar­dener, a generous vol­un­teer and had an in­sa­tiable ap­petite for learn­ing.

Nita’s beau­ti­ful smile, her red lip­stick and gen­uine con­cern for oth­ers will be re­mem­bered by all who knew her.

She will be in­terred at All Saints Epis­co­pal Church in Tar­pon Springs, FL. Me­mo­rial gifts may be made to the Good­win House Foun­da­tion, Alexan­dria, VA.
