City medical providers on alert after clinic raid
City health officials have warned a network of medical providers of a potential increase in drug overdoses and withdrawals after law enforcement raided a pain management clinic.
The Baltimore Sun reported that the Drug Enforcement Administration and local authorities raided the Westside Medical Group offices of Dr. Kofi ShawTaylor on Tuesday.
Raquel Coombs, a spokeswoman for state Attorney General Brian Frosh, says Dr. Shaw-Taylor, 67, was charged with Medicaid fraud.
City Health Commissioner Leana Wen wouldn’t comment on the specific case but said front-line providers must be alerted to the possibility of patients in withdrawal and overdose.
