Smoke disrupts subway service on Metro’s Red Line tracks
Metro closed part of the Red Line early Thursday after reports of smoke in a downtown tunnel.
Metro officials shut down the line between the Gallery Place and Dupont Circle stations around 7:30 a.m.
D.C. fire officials tweeted that they were working with Metro to investigate a report of smoke in a tunnel between Metro Center and Farragut North.
The transit agency reopened the line later Thursday after making repairs in the tunnel.
