Warriors invited to Capitol amid White House snub rumors

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has invited the Golden State Warriors to take a trip to Capitol Hill amid rumors they might be snubbing the traditional White House visit.

“The @Warriors‘ leadership is inspiring. I’d be honored to welcome the team to the U.S. Capitol. #DubNation,” the California Democrat tweeted Tuesday, The Hill first reported.

An unfounded rumor circulated Tuesday morning that the Warriors, who won Monday night’s championship game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, had “unanimously” decided to boycott the White House invitation to meet President Trump. CNBC’s Josh Brown tweeted, “NBA champion Warriors skipping the White House visit, as a unanimous team decision per reports.”

Warriors coach Steve Kerr has been vocal about his disdain for Mr. Trump. Players Shaun Livingston, Stephen Curry and David West have also been critical.

Connor Letourneau, of the San Francisco Chronicle, reported that “no official decision has been made” on the team’s White House visit.

The team responded to the reports with a news release just after noon Tuesday, saying they had not yet received an invitation from the White House but would make a decision on whether to accept “when and if necessary.”
