Tales / 8:00pm (BET) 10:00pm (BET) Hip-hop music blasted fresh air into the Broadway musical form with the Pulitzer Prize-winning “Hamilton,” and now it may have a similar effect on the world of scripted TV drama. This new anthology series comprises “song stories” that weave classic and current hip-hop songs into visual narratives inspired by the lyrics of some of this genre’s greatest hits, starting with “F... the Police” from N.W.A. in the series premiere. The rotating cast includes Boris Kodjoe, Elise Neal and Lance Gross.
iZombie / 9:00pm (50) The series wraps up its third season with “Looking for Mr. Goodbrain, Part 2,” which finds Liv (Rose McIver) continuing on her not-too-selective path of seeking romantic partners — the byproduct of her assuming the personality of someone Ravi (Rahul Kohli) had ties to. However things turn out here, rest assured there is more brainpower to come: The show has been renewed for Season 4.
Face Off / 9:00pm (Syfy) 12:00am (Syfy) The design artists are at least mildly thrown for a loop when, just a couple of weeks into the season, the show hands them their first unexpected twist (you’ll have to tune in to see what it is) in the new episode “Divide & Conquer.” Their challenge for the episode is to create some enchanting fairy tale characters. Actress Elizabeth Mitchell stops by to serve as a guest judge.
Team Ninja Warrior / 10:00pm (USA) 1:01am (USA) This hit reality competition series, part of the “American Ninja Warrior” franchise, wraps up another season in the new “Finals Week 2.” Hosts Matt Iseman and former NFL star Akbar Gbajabiamila call the action as the final teams compete on side-by-side obstacle courses through a series of daunting physical challenges designed to test endurance and speed.
