County police seek ATV riders who created chaos Sunday
A group of all-terrain vehicle and dirt bike riders have been accused of “reckless behavior” by county authorities in Prince George’s County.
WTOP-FM reported that videos posted on social media showed the riders Sunday night passing between cars on crowded highways, some popping wheelies, as they went through downtown Washington.
They’re also seen revving engines, weaving around cars and hurrying evading pedestrians while driving on sidewalks at National Harbor.
Prince George’s County Police said about 100 riders took bikes unauthorized for street-use and engaged in the “egregious and malicious behavior.”
Deputy Chiefs George Nichols and Chris Murtha said extra patrols will be out, and possibly a police helicopter, looking for similar activity.
Chief Murtha said many of the bikes used were stolen and even ones that aren’t could still be seized.
