Black Lives Matter interrupts ex-governor in Philadelphia
Black Lives Matter protesters shouted down former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell during a kid-friendly event Monday, saying “no politician will be safe” until justice is served in the fatal police-involved shooting of an armed black man.
Mr. Rendell was speaking at a celebration of Philadelphia’s Franklin Square’s 11th anniversary when Black Lives Matter demonstrators crashed the event to protest the police-involved killing of David Jones, a 30-year-old armed black man who
was shot in the back while trying to flee police.
A local news station captured the intense moment when a man shouting through a bullhorn stood just feet from Mr. Rendell as the governor stood at the podium in silence.
“Go home! Go home! Go home!” the demonstrators chanted.
