Celebrity chef Bourdain draws liberal ire for criticizing Clinton
Anthony Bourdain is being ripped on Twitter by Hillary Clinton’s associates and supporters
after he criticized the former Democratic presidential nominee for her delayed response to the Harvey Weinstein scandal.
Mrs. Clinton has faced widespread criticism for waiting five days to finally condemn Mr. Weinstein after the initial news broke of numerous sexual harassment allegations against the Hollywood mogul, who is also a prominent Democratic donor. In an appearance on CNN, Mrs. Clinton briefly addressed Mr. Weinstein’s donations to her campaign efforts, saying she planned to give the money back to charity.
Mr. Bourdain, liberal and boyfriend of Weinstein accuser Asia Argento, said Mrs. Clinton’s response about the donations was “shameful in its deflection and its disingenuousness.”
“The Weinstein stories had been out there for years,” the celebrity chef tweeted. “Mindless Hillary hate aside, this was a terrible response to questions about a ‘friend’ who’s been tormenting women for decades.”
Mr. Bourdain’s remarks were swiftly criticized by Mrs. Clinton’s supporters, including her campaign spokesman, Brian Fallon, who also chimed in on Twitter, telling Mr. Bourdain to “Go eat a scorpion or something.”
