Po­lice: Men in cap­sized boat on Po­tomac were brothers

Au­thor­i­ties have iden­ti­fied two brothers who died af­ter their small boat cap­sized on the Po­tomac River.

The Depart­ment of Nat­u­ral Re­sources Po­lice in Mary­land iden­ti­fied them Mon­day as Fer­min Al­varado, 45, and Ma­tias Al­varado-Ar­rue, 31. Both lived in Wood­bridge.

Their bodies have been taken to the med­i­cal ex­am­iner’s of­fice in Bal­ti­more for au­top­sies.

Their 15-foot bass boat cap­sized Sun­day af­ter­noon about a mile south of Lee­syl­va­nia State Park in Wood­bridge. Coast Guard of­fi­cials said a tug­boat crew saw the boat cap­size but could not lo­cate the men in time. The wa­ter was 47 de­grees.
