Good movies

The Washington Times Weekly - - Letters To The Editor -

A recent letter to the editor (“Done with movies,” Oct. 9 edition) asserted that we should completely stay away from the movies because so many of them are bad. Many of them are indeed bad.

However, there are some excellent movies.

For example, currently playing is “Movie Night with the King,” which is a very good protrayal of the Book of Esther. Another very good recent movie was “Facing the Giants.” Last year one of the excellent movies was “The Great Raid” portrayal of the Ranger raid in the Philippines during World War II that saved that last 500 survivors of the Bataan Death March. Before that, among others, were “Luther” and “The Passion of the Christ.” There have been many others.

Therefore, our goal should be to support those good movies so that the movie industry will be motivated to make more of them. Charles E. Frost Jr. Houston, Texas
