Don’t think Un­cle Sam’s wal­let isn’t feel­ing the pinch at the gaso­line pump.

Start­ing Jan. 1, the In­ter­nal Rev­enue Ser­vice’s stan­dard rate to cal­cu­late de­ductible costs for fed­eral em­ploy­ees who drive their own ve­hi­cles for of­fi­cial busi­ness will be in­creased to 48.5 cents per mile — 4 pen­nies above the 2006 rate.
