NRSC’s mis­takes

Your edi­to­rial in the Jan. 8 edi­tion (“Sen­a­tors should­haveshown­themthe­money”)re­gard­ing the Na­tional Repub­li­can Sen­a­to­rial Com­mit­tee an­dit­suse,or­rather,mis­use­of­cam­paign­funds, ne­glected an­other side of this is­sue.

One­ofthep­rob­lem­swith­theNRSCis­theuse ofits­fund­sagain­stRepub­li­cans. Mosto­fuswho con­trib­ute to the RNC, the NRSC, or the NRCC have thought that our funds would be used against Democrats. That was in­cor­rect! They haveused­sub­stan­tial­partoftheir­fund­sagainst con­ser­va­tive Repub­li­cans in the pri­maries.

One­ex­am­ple­wasthattheyspent­moneyrun­ning ads against Steve Laf­fey in Rhode Is­land. This fine con­ser­va­tive was run­ning against RINO Lin­coln Chafee in the pri­mary. Many of uswho­sup­port­the­greatRepub­li­can­prin­ci­ples of lower taxes, fis­cal re­spon­si­bil­ity, lim­ited gov­ern­men­tan­das­trong­na­tion­alde­fense­have­been greatly dis­ap­pointed by their lack of in­tegrity when­it­comestous­ingth­e­cam­paign­funds.We willonly­sup­port­themwhen­they­pledgeton­ever use Repub­li­can money against Repub­li­cans.
