American spirit

The Washington Times Weekly - - Letters To The Editor -

When I heard Sen. Harry Reid portray Americans as losers in Iraq, I recalled the movie “Patton,” which opened with a speech by Patton to the troops going into World War II, in which he said:

“All this stuff you heard about America not wanting to fight is a lot of horse dung. Americans traditionally love to fight. Americans love a winner and will not tolerate a loser. Americans play to win all the time.”

Let us hope the American spirit still prevails and that our love of winning has not been totally destroyed by our experiences in Vietnam. Mary M. Hill Chambersburg, Pennsylvania
