Democrat goals

The Washington Times Weekly - - Letters To The Editor -

I have read that hate can destroy the mind and all rational thinking. This seems to be happening to the Democrats. Their hatred for President Bush has consumed them to the point where they are willing to accept defeat and put the country at risk so that this war in Iraq will not be a victory for him. This is despicable and treasonous. The terrorists read every word uttered by Congress and know we are divided. It is only a matter of time before we leave if the terrorists have their way.

What they fail to recognize are the ramifications of their actions and rhetoric. Already the Iraqi people are frightened, and the military are not receiving the necessary intelligence to locate weapons caches and terrorist locations. The terrorists have ratcheted up car bomb attacks, hoping they can get us out sooner. These actions are putting our military at risk. After we leave, al Qaeda will swiftly move in to set up bases and take over the government. Those who provided information to us will be killed in brutal ways.

The Democrats have two goals in mind — destroying President Bush and winning in 2008. They do not appear to care what happens to our country, our military or the Iraqi people. Marilyn Nemeth Gaylord, Michigan
