Willie Nelson sings it best: “My heroes have always been cowboys. And they still are, it seems.”

Now, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada wants Americans to honor cowboys via a congressional resolution approved last week designating July 28, 2007, as the “National Day of the American Cowboy.”

The Democratic leader says the “pioneering men and women” not only helped establish the West, but today from ranches in all 50 states they continue to infuse the nation with solid character, sound family values, common sense, honesty, integrity, courage, compassion, respect, a strong work ethic, environmentalism and patriotism.
