You end your April 21 editorial titled “The president war ms to war ming” (page 36) with this statement: “The Bush initiative doesn’t fit well in the final month of a [my emphasis] White House administration seeking to solidify its legacy.” Say what? President Bush and his father, as fine as they are as gentlemen, have done more to deconstruct the conservative movement and betray the Reagan legacy than the Democrats and legions of liberal sharpshooters. Conservative he is not and his legacy will be written that way. How fitting that your editorial on him should appear opposite one titled “Jimmy Car ter and Hamas.” Both editor ials demonstrate just how detached these men are and how poor they've been as leaders.
