Warm surrender

The Washington Times Weekly - - Letters To The Editor -

Re: Tony Blankley’s Commentary piece in the April 21 edition titled “Bush and global warming” (page 30), President Bush’s concession to global warming is as disappointing as Newt Gingrich's recent television ad with Nancy Pelosi validating the same issue. As Mr. Blankley mentions, this hurts those who have bravely risked careers, especially in media and academia, to provide the public with meaningful alternative views on the issue.

Ironically, 50 years from now, Democrats will likely blame the global warming hoax on Big Business and, of course, Republicans. Students will be taught that the hysteria was created so corporations could replace cheap and reliable products with new and more expensive items. Light bulbs and hybrid vehicles come to mind.

I look forward to more Gingrich-Pelosi “coming together” TV spots on such subjects as ensuring freedom of education, fairness in the media, eliminating voting fraud, reducing taxes and government waste, securing our borders, strengthening our military and more. But Democrats won't budge an inch, while our guys give the opposition a country mile. Mike Spaniola Vail, Colorado
