Where blame lies
The news media report that Congress is wondering why food prices are rising so much. Unless they are living in a vacuum, reporters and members of Congress should know that the purchasing power of the dollar is continuing a steady, yearly decline because the federal government prints money backed by nothing every year in order to spend more than it takes from taxpayers. This inflation of the money supply causes the money already in circulation to lose value.
Taxpayers should be upset with the politicians in Washington and not with the grocery stores or gas companies because only the federal government can get by with printing money without a limitation. Byron Kern Richardson, Texas
