Summer gouge

The Washington Times Weekly - - Letters To The Editor -

Last summer the price of gas spiked, everyone got mad, “Drill, Drill, Drill” became a rallying cry, President Bush revoked his ban on offshore drilling (which he never should have done in the first place), and the Democratic Congress — afraid of losing the election — did not extend their ban on off shore drilling. Mr. Bush allowed the offshore lease process to start, and the price of gas went down quicker than it went up.

This summer the price of gas is going up but expect a very different scenario. President Obama has already stopped the offshore leasing process until it can be “studied” more. The Democrats in Congress will not need to enact an offshore drilling ban because their man in the White House is taking care of it. The price of gas will go up further which will allow the Congress to have some high profile hearings to blast the Big Oil executives for their greed.

I believe one of the oil company executives said at a hearing last year that “if we are not allowed to drill for more oil, $5.00 / gallon will seem like the good old days.” Get ready America . I hope you like the Change. Gari Chaffin Farmington Hills, Michigan
