Losing their way

The Washington Times Weekly - - Letters To The Editor -

In the May 9 edition, David Keene, President of the NRA, wrote an article about his group being the leading protector of the Second Amendment.

What Mr. Keene failed to mention is that the NRA gave Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, $5,000 for his re-election campaign this past year and also supported 56 Democrats in their bid for reelection. The reasons the NRA gave for supporting these left-wing Democrats is that they are progun in Congress.

What the NRA doesn’t realize is that Mr. Reid and most of the other Democrats want to remove the entire Constitution from our Republic by supporting and confirming some of the most leftwing federal judges in the history of our country.

There is no doubt how recent Supreme Court appointees Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor will vote should any issue come before the Court concerning the restricting of firearms. Both the these appointees were supported and confirmed by Harry Reid in the Senate.

After the above facts were made known to the public, I have heard that thousands of members removed their names from the NRA membership. My wife and I are included in this number. It is a disgrace how the once-respected NRA has been highjacked by some of the leaders in this organization and have sold themselves out to these members of Congress who will do anything to trash our Constitution.
