A moment to ponder. Donald Trump made his last campaign speech before a crowd of exuberant 21,000 people — a fitting finale to the hardest working man in politics. Journalists were eager to know if Mr. Trump had changed, or had some insight after spending 512 days on the campaign trail. The answer is simple and refreshing.

“It’s been an amazing process,” Mr. Trump told Fox News after a few scant hours of sleep in the immediate aftermath. “It’s been a beautiful process. The people of this country are incredible. I’ve been all over the country, met the people at every level. I’ve met the people at every level and they are amazing. So that’s really the thing. I think when people ask what have you learned? That’s what I’ve learned. The people of this country are amazing.”
