President Trump on Wednesday signaled that his once-budding bromance with Chinese President Xi Jinping may be souring.

At the Mar-a-Lago summit in April between the two leaders, Mr. Trump appeared to be backing off earlier criticism of Beijing.

Mr. Trump, according to White House aides, now told Mr. Xi that unless China takes steps to rein in North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs, the United States would take steps unilaterally to do so.
