At least half the world’s orca pop­u­la­tions will be­come ex­tinct within the next cen­tury, be­cause of long-banned chem­i­cals that are pol­lut­ing the oceans, a new study has found. Poly­chlo­ri­nated biphenyls, or PCBs, were once widely used in elec­tri­cal com­po­nents, plas­tics, and paints, re­ports The Guardian (U.K.).
