Rapelling for money

Ru­bianne Rubio of Bella Vista takes her turn Satur­day dur­ing the Sun­shine School and De­vel­op­ment Cen­ter’s rap­pelling fundraiser Over The Edge at the 8W Cen­ter in Ben­tonville. The school be­gan a cam­paign in Jan­uary, with par­tic­i­pants who reached their fundraising goal able to par­tic­i­pate in rap­pelling from the roof of the six-story build­ing. Over the Edge is a com­pany which spe­cial­izes in pro­duc­ing events for non­profit groups us­ing equip­ment and tech­niques used in commercial rope-ac­cess work such as sign in­stal­la­tion and win­dow wash­ing. The event had raised more than $57,000 for the school, with more do­na­tions still com­ing in Satur­day morn­ing. Lo­cated in Rogers, the Sun­shine School & De­vel­op­ment Cen­ter serves chil­dren and adults with de­vel­op­men­tal dis­abil­i­ties, in­clud­ing a preschool.
