New Life Chris­tian Church

Sun­day morn­ing ser­vices are held at 8:30, 10 and 11:30 a.m. The cur­rent se­ries, en­ti­tled “The Story,” is a chrono­log­i­cal jour­ney through the en­tire Bible. Pro­gram­ming for chil­dren from birth to sixth grade is held at all ser­vices.

Vil­lage Bible Church

The Oa­sis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon on Wed­nes­day, Aug. 30. This min­istry is avail­able to any­one in the area who needs help with gro­ceries and would ap­pre­ci­ate the com­pas­sion and en­cour­age­ment of our friendly vol­un­teers.

The new con­tem­po­rary wor­ship ser­vice be­gins Sept. 10 at 11 a.m.

High­lands Stu­dent Min­istry where mid­dle-school and high­school stu­dents can share and grow their faith, Sun­day’s 5-6:30 p.m.

High­lands Fall Fel­low­ship, Fun and Food will be on Sept. 10. Bring lawn chairs for the event that’s af­ter the kick­off of the 11 a.m. con­tem­po­rary wor­ship ser­vice (about noon) for an old-fash­ioned church fam­ily pic­nic.

Uni­tar­ian Univer­sal­ists

Sun­day School is avail­able for chil­dren with a Uni­tar­ian Univer­sal­ist adap­ta­tion of Jerome Ber­ry­man’s book, “Spirit Play,” as the pri­mary re­source. The morn­ing is struc­tured based on the Montes­sori ap­proach. The key el­e­ments are the class­room en­vi­ron­ment and the teach­ers. These el­e­ments free the chil­dren to work at their own pace on their own ac­tiv­i­ties af­ter an ini­tial les­son.

The Uni­tar­ian Univer­sal­ists of Ben­ton County meet at 1110 S.E. Ever­green St. (Little Ein­stein Montes­sori School) in Ben­tonville near the south­east cor­ner of 14th and J streets. United Methodist Church

“When Mourn­ing Dawns : A Jour­ney Through Grief,” is a nine-week jour­ney through the ex­pe­ri­ences of grief from the with­er­ing of au­tumn to the hope­ful new growth of sum­mer. The group meets on Tues­days and con­tin­ues through Oct, 24 from 5:30 to 7 p.m., in the Chapel. A do­na­tion of $10 for the par­tic­i­pant book is wel­comed.

Mid­week manna has be­gun for the fall. The group meets in fel­low­ship with a meal start­ing at 5:30 un­til 6:15 p.m. Sug­gested do­na­tion is $5 per adult, $3 per chil­dren un­der 10, and fam­ily max­i­mum is $15. Small group study and small craft and ac­tiv­ity groups meet from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Classes in­clude a Women’s Bible Study, Tech­nol­ogy for Se­nior, El­der-Care, The Shack, In­vi­ta­tion to the Old Tes­ta­ment, Color your Way to Calm and Bazaar Crafts. New classes will be added soon. Child­care is avail­able for in­fants and tod­dlers. Pre-K through sixth grade will learn Bible ba­sics through Bible sto­ries, mem­o­riza­tion of scrip­ture, and song. If needed, time for home­work is pro­vided. Youth Life, grades seven through 12, will meet in the Youth Room.

Prayer shawl min­istry has re­sumed, meet­ing on Tues­day from 10 to 11 a.m. in Room 6. Come for an hour of vis­it­ing and stitch­ing. To learn how to knit, mem­bers will be happy to in­struct you. The shawls are given to shut-ins, those who are griev­ing and other cir­cum­stances. Each shawl is prayed over and blessed as it is be­ing lov­ingly made.

Friends plus healthy living meets Wed­nes­day at 9 a.m. at in the chapel to walk for a while and then come back to share tips on mak­ing health­ier life­style choices, and en­cour­age and up­lift one an­other. A healthy snack is usu­ally shared.

Men’s Em­maus meets each Wed­nes­day at 1 p.m. in Room 22. This group is open to any fel­low who has gone through the Em­maus process.

Bazaar craft work­shops meet on Thurs­days from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will con­tinue meet­ing ev­ery Thurs­day un­til the Oct. 7 bazaar. Bring a sack lunch along if you can stay past the noon hour and/or a snack to share. This will be a great time for meet­ing new friends and shar­ing your crafty tal­ents.

The Chan­cel Choir and Chan­cel Hand­ball Choir both have re­sumed re­hearsals af­ter a sum­mer hia­tus.
