Semi rear-ends semi
Police officer Kenneth Sabby examines a tractor-trailer involved in a rear-end collision in the northbound lane of U.S. Highway 71, just south of the Riordan Road intersection, on Oct. 16. The accident reduced northbound traffic to a single lane until the road could be cleared and slowed traffic in the southbound lane as drivers slowed down to look. Police officer Justin Green said the truck, pictured, failed to slow down when the tractor-trailer in front of it started braking. It collided with the other truck’s trailer, he said, and bent the trailer’s rear safety bar into the tires, resulting in flat tires and a suspected broken axle. The trailer was unable to roll, he said. There were no injuries reported, Green said.
