Charles W. Bean

Charles W. “Bill” Bean, 90, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Sept. 21, 2018.

He was born Aug. 13, 1928, to Asa Clarence and He­lene Sweet Bean in Bois D’Arc, Mo. He mar­ried Pa­tri­cia J. Car­rothers on Nov. 25, 1928, in Madi­son, Kan. He worked for First Na­tional Bank in Madi­son for 25 years. He re­tired in 1975 and moved to ru­ral McDonald County, Mo. As a wood­carver, he carved hun­dreds of ducks, loons, geese, herons, fly­ing birds and whales which were sold at many art fairs. He was a mem­ber of Sims­berry United Methodist Church in Pineville, Mo.

He was pre­ceded in death by his wife, Pa­tri­cia; his son, Charles W. Bean Jr.; a daugh­ter, Kris­ten L. Bean; his par­ents; and his sib­lings.

Sur­vivors in­clude three daugh­ters, Kyle Cloutier of Bella Vista, Kim­berly Bean (Jane Sadusky) of Madi­son, Wis., and Robyn Puntch of Spring­dale, Ark.; and six grand­chil­dren.

A vis­i­ta­tion will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Mon­day, Oct. 1, at Bella Vista Fu­neral Home, 2258 For­est Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, AR.

Thomas J. Ho­gan

Thomas (Tom) J. Ho­gan, 89, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Sept. 13, 2018, in his wife’s arms at home.

He was born April 30, 1929, to Thomas J.

Ho­gan Sr. and Anna Blanche Beauchamp Ho­gan in Chicago, Ill. He worked in the trans­porta­tion in­dus­try man­age­ment with var­i­ous com­pa­nies most of his life, re­tir­ing from J.B. Hunt, Low­ell, Ark. He and his wife man­aged the “Vil­lage Chauf­feur” for sev­eral years.

He was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents; broth­ers, Robert Ho­gan and John Ho­gan; sis­ter, Vir­ginia Liaro­ma­tis; and two grand­sons.

Sur­vivors in­clude his wife of 35 years, April; two daugh­ters, Diane Lapole (Rick) of Alta, Iowa, Patty Lang­ford (John) of Batavia, Iowa; seven sons, David Ho­gan (Lana) of Ear­lville, Ill., James Ho­gan (Kelli) of Ear­lville, Paul Ho­gan (Peggy) of Sarona, Wis., Tom Ho­gan of Des Moines, Iowa, Dana Ho­gan (Dawn) of Des Moines, Matthew Ho­gan (Erin) of Buena Park, Calif., Glen Ho­gan (DeAnna) of Pleas­antville, Iowa; sis­ter, Vi­o­let DeLeo of Down­ers Grove, Ill.; and 20 grand­chil­dren.

A me­mo­rial was held at the Bella Vista Fu­neral Home on Fri­day, Sept. 21, 2018.

A sec­ond me­mo­rial and cel­e­bra­tion of life will be held at a later date in Iowa.

John L. In­gels

John L. In­gels, 83, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Sept. 12, 2018.

He was born to Harry and Grace In­gels, Nov. 29, 1934. He grad­u­ated from Hum­boldt

High School. He served in the U.S. Army and Re­serves from 1955-1961. He was self-em­ployed most of his ca­reer in com­mer­cial re­frig­er­a­tion and after re­tire­ment moved to Bella Vista.

He was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents; daugh­ter, Christina Jones; broth­ers, Ken­neth and Harry; sis­ter, Mary Alice Smith; and one great-grand­son.

Sur­vivors in­clude his wife of 41 years, Janet, of the home; son, David In­gels of Par­sons, Kan.; daugh­ter, Gayle Ger­icke of Chanute, Kan.; brother, Robert Dean of Amar­illo, Texas; sis­ters, He­len Red­man of Wi­chita, Kan., Hazel Blair of Over­land Park, Kan.; and eight grand­chil­dren.

Memo­ri­als are sug­gested to Leanna Chris­tian Church or High­land Chris­tian Church of Bella Vista.

Me­mo­rial ser­vices were held at Leanna Chris­tian Church, Leanna, Kan., at 11 a.m. Sept. 20, 2018.

Lela F. Sand­fort

Lela F. Sand­fort, 105, res­i­dent of Con­cor­dia Re­tire­ment Cen­ter in Bella Vista, Ark., died Sept. 20, 2018.

She grew up in Cov­ing­ton,

Ohio, the daugh­ter of Roy and Florence Shellabarger. After high school grad­u­a­tion, she at­tended busi­ness school and took a job in Day­ton, Ohio, where she met her fu­ture hus­band, John. They were mar­ried on Nov. 12, 1938. They fol­lowed a life of Univer­sity pro­fes­sor­ship and she be­came a mem­ber of the Fac­ulty Women’s Club at the Uni­ver­si­ties. They moved to Bella Vista in 1979 and helped found the Pres­by­te­rian Church of Bella Vista of which she was a mem­ber of the chime and chan­cel choirs. She en­joyed big band mu­sic and ball­room danc­ing and served as a mem­ber of sev­eral area clubs and board of di­rec­tors for the Bella Vista Blue­bird So­ci­ety.

Sur­vivors in­clude a son, David (Anne); grand­son, Stephen (Jen­nifer); and great-grand­son, Bran­don.

A me­mo­rial ser­vice will be held at the Pres­by­te­rian Church of Bella Vista at 1 p.m. Fri­day, Sept. 28, 2018.

Mar­guerite VanMeter

Mar­guerite VanMeter, 86, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Fri­day, Sept. 14, 2018.

She was born in Kansas City, Kan., to William and Mar­guerite Eubank on Jan. 14, 1932. She mar­ried Charles VanMeter on Nov. 5, 1955, in Shawnee, Kan. She re­tired from Write Rogers in 2002 and re­tired in Bella Vista.

She was pre­ceded in death by her par­ents; sis­ters, Wilma and El Frieda; and brother, William.

Sur­vivors in­clude her hus­band of 50 years, Charles VanMeter; three chil­dren, Mar­vin, Carl (Rhonda) and Ray­mond; two grand­chil­dren; and two sis­ters, Carol and Martha Sue (Leo).

Pa­tri­cia Ruth Arn­quist Wright

Pa­tri­cia Ruth Arn­quist Wright, 84, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Sept. 10, 2018.

She was born Sept. 9, 1934, in Hoff­man, Minn., to Gra­cia Ruth Hooper and Robert Law­ton Arn­quist. She grad­u­ated high school in New Rich­mond, Wis. She mar­ried Ge­orge Arthur Wright of Hud­son, Wis., on May 3, 1953. She worked as a le­gal sec­re­tary and home­maker while sup­port­ing her hus­band in the U.S. Air Force and other ca­reers through their many trav­els and homes. They re­tired to Bella Vista in 1991.

Sur­vivors in­clude her hus­band, Ge­orge; daugh­ters, Ju­lia Moen (Scott) of St. Paul, Minn., Jac­que­lyn Hale (Rex) of Brook­lyn Park, Minn.; sons, David Wright of Min­ne­ap­o­lis, Minn., Steven Wright (Bruce Gil­lispie) of Rogers, Ark.; five grand­chil­dren; and sis­ter, Jan­ice Arn­quist Clary Volden (Phil).

A me­mo­rial ser­vice was held in Bella Vista at the NWAR Min­istry Cen­ter/ New Wine Min­istry, 2262 For­est Hills Blvd., Satur­day, Sept. 22, 2018. An­other me­mo­rial ser­vice will be held at Cor­ner­stone Church, 106 Bal­sam St., Spooner, Wis., at 11 a.m. Satur­day, Oct. 6, 2018.
