Bella Vista Gar­den Club

The Bella Vista Gar­den Club will hold their monthly meet­ing on Wed­nes­day, Sept. 26, at the Bella Vista Com­mu­nity Church lo­cated at 75 E. Lan­cashire Blvd. Lunch is served at 11 a.m. with the pro­gram fol­low­ing at 11:30 a.m. Schol­ar­ships will be awarded to two stu­dents study­ing hor­ti­cul­ture at area col­leges. BV Homestead­ers

An­dante Mu­sic Club

An­dante Mu­sic Club of Bella Vista in­vites the pub­lic to their con­cert at 1 p.m. Tues­day, Oct. 2. This con­cert will fea­ture church mu­si­cians from Vil­lage Bap­tist Church and High­land Chris­tian Church. Vo­cal and in­stru­men­tal mu­sic will be per­formed. The con­cert will be held at High­land Chris­tian Church, 1500 For­est Hills Blvd., Bella Vista. All An­dante con­certs are free and open to the pub­lic.

NWA Civil War Roundtable

The North­west Arkansas Civil War Roundtable will hold its next meet­ing at 7 p.m. on Thurs­day, Sept. 27. The meet­ing will be held in the Old Store an­nex of the Shiloh Mu­seum of Ozark His­tory lo­cated at 118 W. John­son Ave. in Spring­dale. The pro­gram will be pre­sented by Wayne Fuller, who will speak about ef­forts to iden­tify and mark Civil War sights in Elm Springs. Ki­wa­nis Club

Bella Vista Ki­wa­nis Club meets at 7 a.m. the first and third Thurs­day of each month at Con­cor­dia. Break­fast is avail­able. Vis­i­tors, Ki­wa­nis mem­bers and for­mer Ki­wa­nis mem­bers are all in­vited to at­tend.

Sun­rise Ro­tary Club

Fly Tyers Club

The Fly Tyers Club meets at 9 a.m. ev­ery Thurs­day at Rior­dan Hall for a so­cial hour, fol­lowed by a meet­ing from 10 to 11 a.m. The club is a fish­ing, con­ser­va­tion and ser­vice or­ga­ni­za­tion with ap­prox­i­mately 150 mem­bers. This group of men and women share a com­mon in­ter­est in fish­ing for both war­mand cold-wa­ter species found in the lo­cal streams and lakes of Bella Vista. The club also pro­motes lake con­ser­va­tion, recre­ational ac­tiv­i­ties and con­ducts ser­vice projects through­out North­west Arkansas.

Lau­re­ate Al­pha Gamma

The Septem­ber meet­ing of Lau­re­ate Al­pha Gamma chap­ter of Beta Sigma Phi was held on Wed­nes­day, Sept. 12, at the home of Sally Scott with Sally Tryon act­ing as co-host­ess. The meet­ing was called to or­der by Pres­i­dent Pat Zornes and re­ports of the var­i­ous com­mit­tees were given, in­clud­ing the 2018-19 cal­en­dar for the Ser­vice Com­mit­tee. An­nett All­sup, pro­gram chair­man, gave a very in­for­ma­tive pro­gram “Fall, Au­tumn and the Equinox.” The Fall Tea for all chap­ters in Bella Vista is to be held on Fri­day, Oct. 5, at St. Theodore Church was dis­cussed and reser­va­tions taken. Se­cret Sis­ter Hal­loween gifts were also dis­trib­uted.

Project Heal­ing Wa­ters Fly Fish­ing

At­ten­tion all mil­i­tary vet­er­ans with VA dis­abil­ity, Project Heal­ing Wa­ters Fly Fish­ing, a 501(c)(3) non­profit or­ga­ni­za­tion, is ded­i­cated to the phys­i­cal and emo­tional re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion of dis­abled ac­tive mil­i­tary ser­vice per­son­nel and dis­abled vet­er­ans through fly fish­ing and as­so­ci­ated ac­tiv­i­ties, in­clud­ing ed­u­ca­tion and out­ings. Vil­lage Lake Writ­ers & Po­ets

Vil­lage Lake Writ­ers & Po­ets meets monthly from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the sec­ond Wed­nes­day of the month. Meet­ings are free and open to the pub­lic and held at the Artist Re­treat Cen­ter, Home of the ARC Writ­ers, along U.S. High­way 71, across from Lake Bella Vista (look for the two-story His­toric Stone Cabin), at 13467 Look­out Drive, Bella Vista. BV Am­a­teur Ra­dio Club

The Bella Vista Am­a­teur Ra­dio Club holds its monthly meet­ings at 7 p.m. the first Thurs­day of each month at High­land Chris­tian Church in Bella Vista. The pro­gram fo­cuses on com­pet­i­tive ra­dio op­er­at­ing and its ben­e­fits for pub­lic ser­vice and emer­gency com­mu­ni­ca­tions. For any­one in­ter­ested in ac­quir­ing an am­a­teur ra­dio li­cense, the club also ad­min­is­ters FCC ex­ams at 2 p.m. on the sec­ond Satur­day of each month. All meet­ings and ex­ams are held at High­land Chris­tian Church, lo­cated at 1500 For­est Hills Blvd. (Ark. High­way 279), in Bella Vista. Wood­carvers Club

The Bella Vista Wood­carvers Club is a 501(3)(c) non­profit or­ga­ni­za­tion giv­ing back to the com­mu­nity. The club teaches kids the art of carv­ing, us­ing soap as a medium, in hopes they will move on to the art of carv­ing in wood. The club sup­plies and teaches how to use the nec­es­sary tools, so chil­dren will not harm them­selves dur­ing the process. Please con­tact the club if you have a group of kids in­ter­ested in this unique art form. There is no charge. The BV Wood­carvers Club has shown and taught this art at sev­eral or­ga­ni­za­tions in the sur­round­ing area, such as the Amazeum, Bella Vista Pub­lic Li­brary and Cub Scouts. The club also sets up a tent in mid-Oc­to­ber at the Spanker Creek Arts and Crafts Fes­ti­val, where peo­ple can view and pur­chase one of many mem­ber’s dis­play of carved wood items. As each item is hand crafted, there are no two alike.

Club mem­bers (men and women) are very ta­lented carvers will­ing to teach any­one want­ing to learn the art of wood carv­ing. An open in­vi­ta­tion stands for any­one in­ter­ested to stop by one of the meet­ings from 1 to 3 p.m. held ev­ery Thurs­day at Rior­dan Hall. Amer­i­can Le­gion Rid­ers

Mo­tor­cy­cles, pa­tri­otic vet­eran fel­low­ship and the thrill of a ride are what keep the Amer­i­can Le­gion Rid­ers rid­ing. The Amer­i­can Le­gion Rid­ers are as­so­ci­ated with Bella Vista Post 341 and have monthly meet­ings at 9:30 a.m. the third Satur­day of each month at the Bella Vista Amer­i­can Le­gion fa­cil­ity. If the weather al­lows, a ride fol­lows and ends at a restau­rant for a meal.

Ne­braska Club of Bella Vista

A tail­gate is planned be­fore Ne­braska plays Pur­due on Satur­day, Sept. 29, at Kings­dale Pav­il­ion in Bella Vista. Of­fi­cers for the com­ing year will be elected. BV Strings

Bella Vista Strings is a ca­sual acous­tic jam group that meets at 1 p.m. ev­ery Fri­day at the Artist Re­treat Cen­ter. Those who en­joy play­ing dif­fer­ent styles of mu­sic are in­vited to visit and con­sider join­ing the BV Strings. The group plays rock, folk, blue­grass and coun­try. Bella Vista Women’s Cho­rus

The Bella Vista Women’s Cho­rus in­vites singers from the Tri-County area to join the group. All are wel­come with no try­outs or ex­pe­ri­ence nec­es­sary. Di­rected by Dr. Larry Zehring, the group per­forms clas­si­cal, pop, folk and show tunes for lo­cal clubs and events. Per­fect Har­mony Women’s Barbershop Cho­rus meets from 4 to 5:30 p.m. ev­ery Mon­day in the choir room of the United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista. No pre­vi­ous ex­pe­ri­ence or try­outs are re­quired to join this fun-lov­ing cho­rus. Becky Brubaker/Bella Vista-Ben­tonville Pho­tog­ra­phy Club

The Septem­ber monthly con­test chal­lenge for the Bella Vista/Ben­tonville Pho­tog­ra­phy Club mem­bers was Land­scape Pho­tog­ra­phy. The first place win­ner was Becky Brubaker, sec­ond place went to Jan Hal­grim, and Mickey Ar­low and By­ron Thomas re­ceived hon­orary first place for their sub­mis­sions. The club met Sept. 18 and mem­bers turned in their pho­to­graph sub­mis­sions for the Fall Con­test and Print show to be held Nov. 3. The meet­ing topic was Sun­rises and Sun­sets. Dou­glas Keck, pres­i­dent, pro­vided in­for­ma­tion on set­tings, times of day, and cloud cov­er­age needed in or­der to take good sun­rise and sun­set pho­to­graphs. An out­ing to prac­tice sun­rise and sun­set pho­tog­ra­phy will be planned in the next cou­ple of weeks at the Pea Ridge Mil­i­tary Park. The next meet­ing of the club will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Guar­anty Bank in Jane, Mo.
