Killings prove respect forhuman life lost

The Willow Grove Guide - - OPINION -

An open letter to President Barack Obama Dear Mr. President:

Recently you made a call for meaningful action in response to the tragic events in Newtown, Conn. If you truly desire meaningful action, do not let the debate begin and end with gun control.

Call for a discussion of how judges, lawmakers and presidents have diminished the sanctity of human life at its very conception through establishing and main- taining the right to an abortion. I beleive that a woman does have the right to decide what to do with her body. That right is properly exercised at the time of sexual intercourse, not at the beginning of life when she becomes a guardian for a developing child.

Call for a discussion of how judges, lawmakers and presidents have allowed absolute truth to be removed from our schools. Without the Bible and prayer, there is no foundation for teach- ing morality and the true respect for human life in our schools. The doctrine of separation of church and state was meant to protect the worship of God from government, not government from the worship of God.

Call for a discussion of how judges, lawmakers and presidents have permitted filmmakers and video game makers to minimize the consequences of indiscriminate killing in the name of free speech when the true objective is pure profit. Some video games not only minimalize killing and its consequences, but also glorifies the act.

The senseless killings in Newtown are not the result of a gun control issue, they are the result of a heart issue. If we wish to turn the tide against senseless acts of violence, we must turn hearts back to valuing the sanctity of human life and the worship of the creator, not the created.

Sincerely, Phil McCrabb
