Upper Southampton celebrating the Fourth
Staff Writer A traffic jam along Second Street Pike in Southampton is nothing unusual, but when it’s a 40-car lineup of vehicles made prior to 1980 it’s the first-ever Rolling Car Show at the annual Southampton Days festivities beginning July 1.
The auto display begins at 9:30 a.m. July 4, traveling from the Pike (Route 232) and Jaymor Road, north to Klinger Middle School on Second Street Pike just north of Maple Avenue. The show is part of the Independence Day parade that also includes bands and floats. At the conclusion of the parade/ car show, show winners will be announced in the Lions Grove section of Tamanend Park, 1255 Second Street Pike, between 11:30 a.m. and noon.
All vehicles in the car show must be made prior to 1980, and be able to drive the length of the parade route, according to contest rules. Registration to enter is required at southamptondays.com. Judging categories include Best Original, Best Custom and Presidents Award.
