Arthur Earl Ma­cauley Jr. of Ambler

Arthur Earl Ma­cauley, Jr. “Mac”, age 85, a res­i­dent of Ambler, died on July 28, 2018. He had been ter­mi­nally ill. He was the beloved hus­band of Diane M. Ma­cauley (neé Zollo) for the past 21 years. Born in Up­per Dublin, PA, he was the son of the late Arthur E. Ma­cauley, Sr. and the late Vir­ginia Ma­cauley (neé Durkin). He was pre­vi­ously mar­ried to the late Mar­garet Jane Wi­ley and the late Loretta M. Ma­cauley.

Arthur proudly served with the United States Army in Ger­many dur­ing the Korean Con­flict. He was hon­or­ably dis­charged in 1955. He was a mem­ber of the Amer­i­can Le­gion.

Early in his ca­reer, Arthur worked, with his fa­ther, in a fam­ily op­er­ated Fuel Oil De­liv­ery Busi­ness. He re­mained with the A.E. Ma­cauley Fuel Oil Com­pany un­til 1971, when the busi­ness was sold. He then worked as a welder at the Alan Wood Steel Com­pany un­til his re­tire­ment in 1982.

Arthur en­joyed the out­doors. He was an avid hunter, fish­er­man, and sport shooter. He also loved to play golf. Arthur en­joyed gar­den­ing and trav­el­ing.

In ad­di­tion to his wife, he is sur­vived by his daugh­ters; Eileen Vir­ginia Buck and Brenda Jane Bassinger; step-daugh­ters; Lisa Tu­cholke and Vit­to­ria Rosone; five grand­chil­dren, a great-grand­son, four step-grand­chil­dren, nieces, neph­ews and many dear friends.

Fu­neral ser­vice will be held at 11:00 AM on Thurs­day, Au­gust 2, 2018, Sha­eff-My­ers Fu­neral Home, 145 Tennis Av­enue, Ambler, where rel­a­tives and friends will be re­ceived from 9:30 – 11:00 AM. In­ter­ment will be in Rose Hill Ceme­tery.
