Arthur Earl Macauley Jr. of Ambler
Arthur Earl Macauley, Jr. “Mac”, age 85, a resident of Ambler, died on July 28, 2018. He had been terminally ill. He was the beloved husband of Diane M. Macauley (neé Zollo) for the past 21 years. Born in Upper Dublin, PA, he was the son of the late Arthur E. Macauley, Sr. and the late Virginia Macauley (neé Durkin). He was previously married to the late Margaret Jane Wiley and the late Loretta M. Macauley.
Arthur proudly served with the United States Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1955. He was a member of the American Legion.
Early in his career, Arthur worked, with his father, in a family operated Fuel Oil Delivery Business. He remained with the A.E. Macauley Fuel Oil Company until 1971, when the business was sold. He then worked as a welder at the Alan Wood Steel Company until his retirement in 1982.
Arthur enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and sport shooter. He also loved to play golf. Arthur enjoyed gardening and traveling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters; Eileen Virginia Buck and Brenda Jane Bassinger; step-daughters; Lisa Tucholke and Vittoria Rosone; five grandchildren, a great-grandson, four step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 2, 2018, Shaeff-Myers Funeral Home, 145 Tennis Avenue, Ambler, where relatives and friends will be received from 9:30 – 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
