A hero’s wel­come

Fam­ily and friends gave a warm wel­come for Navy Corps­man Alexan­der J. Poli, of Roslyn, who re­turn home July 22 from his de­ploy­ment to Afghanistan. Giv­ing him a hero’s wel­come were The War­riors’ Watch Riders and A Hero’s Wel­come Ds WKHy, DORnJ ZLWK fiUH YHKLFOHs from Roslyn, held a ride from the Wil­low Grove Park mall to his home, where he was given a “mug and hug” as thanks for his ser­vice to his coun­try.

Poli was as­signed to the 2/9 Marines out of Camp Le­je­une, and the War­riors’ Watch Riders gave him a rous­ing send-off when he de­ployed last De­cem­ber. Be­tween then and now, his mother Josie has joined the War­riors Watch on many wel­come home rides for other sol­diers, air­men, sailors and marines.

Poli is also a mem­ber of the Roslyn Fire Depart­ment.
