Coun­cil hires new po­lice of­fi­cer

Rock­ledge Bor­ough Coun­cil voted unan­i­mously to hire a partWLPH SROLFH RI­fiFHU DW its last coun­cil meet­ing Aug. 13.

The ap­point­ment of Jef­frey ptich Jr., 26, will bring the num­ber of part­time Rock­ledge po­lice RI­fiFHUs WR HLJKW, CKLHI Ger­ald Miller said, al­though, he added, to be fully staffed, the depart­ment should have 15.

pev­eral of the departPHnW’s SDUW-WLPH RI­fiFHUs have gone on to full-time po­si­tions in other mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties, Miller said, and the bor­ough has re­placed two of them so far this year.

“I have ap­plied for three this year,” he said. “I don’t think we’re go­ing to make that. I think we’re go­ing to get two.”

ptich, who was not present at the coun­cil meet­ing Mon­day, will be sworn in at a later date.

The bor­ough’s new­est RI­fiFHU sHUYHG Ln WKH U.6. Air Force from 2005 to 2009 and was twice de­ployed over­seas. He at­tended Tem­ple Univer­sity Po­lice Academy, grad­u­at­ing as cap­tain of his class in 2010, and cur­rently ZRUNs Ds D sHFuULWy RI­fi­cer at the Parx Casino in Ben­salem.

He lives in Le­vit­town with his wife, Rachel, and 19 month-old daugh­ter, hyleigh.
